Stories of Hope

How One Nicaraguan Church Became a Safe Haven for Girls Like Neydel

At just 16 years old, Neydel is already raising a two-year-old daughter—a childhood interrupted long before she ever became a mother. She grew up in a Nicaraguan community marked by alcoholism, sexual assault, teen pregnancy, and generational brokenness. Her parents, trapped in addiction, gave her away when she was a young girl.

By fourteen, she was pregnant, alone, and terrified. But in one of the darkest moments of her life, she wandered into a local church—and everything changed.

Inside Pastor Adolfo’s church, Neydel found what she had never known: stability, compassion, and people who believed her life mattered. The congregation walked with her through her pregnancy, supporting her emotionally and practically.

In that season, she encountered the hope of Christ. She became a believer. And her healing began.

"Neydel’s life is proof that transformation begins the moment a child feels safe."

Today, Neydel helps the church by cooking, cleaning, and caring for other young pregnant girls, offering the same encouragement she once desperately needed.

Pastor Adolfo sees what is happening to girls like Neydel all around him—children vulnerable to predators, addiction, exploitation, and cycles of trauma.

His vision is big and urgent: To build a Hope Center that protects, disciples, and empowers vulnerable children and teen mothers.

He dreams of: A safe place where children can learn, grow, and be protected. Programs for teen moms to receive guidance, mentorship, and practical help. A community refuge where the love of Jesus confronts generational darkness.

In a place where danger feels normal, this church is already a beacon of hope—and with a Hope Center, it could become a lifeline for hundreds more.

Neydel’s life is proof that transformation begins the moment a child feels safe. Her daughter is now growing up with a different story—one shaped by love instead of abandonment, by community instead of chaos, by Christ instead of fear.

And every girl who walks through the church doors sees it: hope is possible here.
