Church Building Evangelism

Out of the Storm

Jasmine Scott || Sep 21, 2018

Many of you reading this post are so faithful to pray for our partners and churches around the world. But did you know that they are also praying for you?

Last week, our partner in South Africa heard that Hurricane Florence was bearing down on Virginia, right where ICM is headquartered. Virginia’s governor ordered an evacuation in our area, and several ICM employees were frantically searching for places to go. Deeply concerned, our partner decided to call on the other churches in his area and asked them to pray for everyone in the path of the storm.

Five churches responded to the call, and South Africa’s believers gathered for a special prayer meeting. But they didn’t just pray for an hour or two. These faithful servants prayed all night long for God to intervene!

One pastor also wrote to us to share this verse: “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” ~ Isaiah 41:10

Within a day of their prayer meeting, Hurricane Florence went from a Category 4 storm to a Category 2. The storm’s track shifted further south, leaving Virginia almost completely out of its path. And while the people of North and South Carolina are still being impacted by the storm, the damage is, so far, much less than what was predicted.

For those still in the path of the storm, know this: we are praying. And so are many believers in South Africa who have been touched by your support.

Thank you for your prayers and support for churches around the world. YOU and YOUR PRAYERS have made a difference, and it has not gone unnoticed.

The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results. ~ James 5:16 (NLT)
