ICM technology helps keep church leaders fully grounded in the Word
Our founder, Dois Rosser, recognized from the very beginning that ICM’s ministry was about far more than construction projects. “We believe it is essential for new believers to be discipled in sound Biblical teaching,” Rosser said, “so they will be able to discern truth from error, and won’t fall under the influence of cults or heresy.” That commitment to discipleship holds true today.
When ICM helps a local partner build a new church, our goal is for that building to be filled not just with believers, but also with teaching based firmly in God’s Word.
That’s why we work to ensure a solid, consistent presentation of Christian doctrine across every continent we serve—starting with the pastors themselves. In fact, we consider spiritually mature and faithful leadership to be one of the key indicators of a healthy church. To that end, ICM provides training programs and proven Bible study resources to support leadership development, ensuring pastors grow in their ability to guide and nurture their congregations.
The emphasis on Biblical instruction reaches back to the early days of our ministry, when Mr. Rosser was impressed with the insightful teaching of pastor Dick Woodward. Woodward had developed an in-depth, 180-lesson Bible study curriculum, the “Mini Bible College” (now called Foundations)—and Mr. Rosser was inspired to take this teaching to the world. The curriculum was initially disseminated through regional radio broadcasts, but today we make use of a full range of technologies to convey teaching materials, including solar-powered handheld audio players.
“We believe it is essential for new believers to be discipled in sound Biblical teaching,” Rosser said, “so they will be able to discern truth from error, and won’t fall under the influence of cults or heresy.”
All of these devices include an audio Bible from either Faith Comes by Hearing or Biblica. We also selectively partner with other ministries who produce excellent content, enabling us to equip our partners with the best possible discipleship resources in their heart language. In addition to our own resources, the devices may feature additional content from various ministries such as The Jesus Film, Bible Project, Superbook (CBN), Stations of Generosity, Zúme, LUMO, and John Journey.
Our local ministry partners make excellent use of this technology as they train pastors, either at conferences or individually, and equip them with the audio players to continue their studies at home. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, we were able to distribute 33,000 such devices last year alone, and we estimate that they helped educate more than 400,000 new users—with content provided in nearly 70 languages!
ICM’s technological outreach is now expanding with a new project, Heaven’s Cards, which seeks to deliver multimedia discipleship content to people in rural areas of Brazil without reliable internet access. The Heaven’s Cards initiative gives ICM supporters yet another opportunity to play a part in making disciples of all nations…and keeping leaders and congregations on solid ground.
