A Sacred Covenant in the High Himalayas
During a visit to a newly dedicated ICM church in the Himalayas, local believers shared news of a small community living 90 minutes away by foot, higher up the mountain. The journey was arduous, but the calling was clear.
The team went—to listen, to share the Gospel, and to see what God was already doing.
What they encountered was nothing short of miraculous.
Among the group was an 86-year-old man—the oldest person in the village—who had spent his entire life as a Buddhist priest. That day, as the Gospel was preached on the mountainside, his heart was opened.
He gave his life to Jesus Christ.
And when the call to baptism came, he was the first to step forward.
As the community watched this respected elder publicly surrender his life to Christ, something powerful happened. One by one, they followed his example.
Faith spread across the mountain—not through words alone, but through obedience.
Water in this region is precious and rare. What little could be gathered was muddy and scarce. Still, the people’s desire to obey Christ outweighed every obstacle.
So they did what they could.
A hole was dug into the ground. A simple baptismal pool was formed. And one by one, believers stepped into those muddy waters.

“We dug the ground and made a hole so that everyone could be baptized, and I had the privilege of baptizing them.”
There were no white robes. No polished sanctuary. Only faith, joy, and a mountain bearing witness.
This extraordinary moment did not happen by accident. It was the direct fruit of the newly dedicated church in the area that ICM investors helped build—a local presence strong enough to disciple, mobilize, and reach far beyond its walls.
With a church established in the region, the Gospel traveled higher up the mountain. Because a church stood ready, a community met Christ. And because the church exists, disciples are being made—even where resources are few.
