Uganda

Although Uganda’s political and economic situation has improved in recent years, its people are ravaged by HIV/AIDS, which has infected approximately 5 percent of the population. Some villages have been nearly wiped out by AIDS, leaving many destitute orphans. Because of AIDS and other diseases, infant mortality is high and life expectancy is a mere 52 years.

Financial need and great receptivity to the gospel make now an auspicious time to build churches in Uganda. With religious freedom guaranteed by the constitution, Christians can worship freely. However, although many congregations have begun building churches from homemade bricks, they have been unable to finish them due to the cost of the supplies they cannot make, such as concrete and steel.
