Haiti Earthquake Update
On January 12, 2010 a devastating magnitude 7.0 earthquake hit Port-au-Prince, Haiti. ICM Partner, Maribel Delgado (located in the Dominican Republic) immediately went to work offering aid through ICM churches located in the DR, as well as aiding in setting up travel and aid into Haiti.
Maribel continues in this initiative, as the work has only just begun. In the aftermath of such a tragedy, it is encouraging to hear the countless stories of hope and revival in Haiti. As Maribel put it, “God’s love is being poured out in Haiti, in ways never seen before. God is working in wonderful and mysterious ways.”

Religious Outlook & the Work of ICM
Despite the difficult economic and spiritual climate there is a steady church growth within Haiti. This has been the result of widespread evangelism, deep commitment to social development and the evident power of Jesus as He works through all of us to make known His Kingdom.
Missions continue to play an important role within Haiti. However, political unrest, threats and violence against missionaries have forced many to leave. It is through continued prayer for these servants of the Lord, that they have been a constant witness and example in times of stress; thus being a source of ongoing maturing of the church. Remember the words of Paul in 1 Thessalonians 5:11, “Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.” May each of us continue to share in the joy of helping this group of Haitian believers as they grow in the knowledge of the Lord.
