Religious Outlook & the Work of ICM

The great majority of the population is Roman Catholic with a small Protestant community, and about 1% of the inhabitants are Spiritists. Both the Catholic and Protestant faiths are growing, though Protestants are growing faster.

Even with so many people professing Christianity, half the population is still involved in cultic practices, mainly voodooism. Only 10% attend church regularly.

The prospect of impacting this country with the Gospel is immense. With a majority of the population under the age of 30, now is the opportune time to reach these young people with the power of God’s Word, so that the cultic traditions of old may be replaced by the truth of God’s Word.

TMBC groups continue to nurture the believers in the churches we have partnered to build.
