The religion of Burundi centers predominantly around the Catholic faith along with local tradition, though its prominence has been greatly hindered by civil unrest. To this country, the message of Christ offers great hope. The words of Jesus bring love and joy in the midst of death and sorrow and salvation though Christ offers Burundians peace like they have never experienced.
Our indigenous partner in Burundi oversees hundreds of existing congregations, so it is with hearts grateful to the Lord that ICM has accepted the awesome opportunity. It is with hope that we, by the grace of God, might rapidly blanket this small African nation. This Partnership’s strategy is to provide church building for these rural congregations within our partner’s network of fellowships that mainly meet under trees or makeshift mud shelters.
Some of these churches are 200 to 300 members strong, so a building will truly be a blessing to them, as well as an asset toward the growth of the church. Plans ahead include the implementation of the use of the Mini Bible College in each fellowship, to actively share God’s Word in concert with church building efforts. Altogether, we will be nurturing believers and assisting church growth.
