ICM in Ethiopia

Axum, an Ethiopian city considered to be the former home of the Queen of Sheba, has resisted Christianity for the last seventeen hundred years.

ICM is planning to build the first evangelical church in Axum for a 100-member strong congregation. The facility will include an orphanage that will house children whose parents died from war, AIDS or starvation.

While most of the population in Ethiopia is Oriental Orthodox and Muslim, Christians are the persecuted minority.  A small rundown building symbolizes Christians’ struggles in Axum.  Used as a refuge during times of severe persecution, this structure is a sanctuary for Christians who leave their homes or villages due to religious persecution.  Some have lived there for as long as one year.

This church will provide salt and light to a community long in the dark.  Praise God for this opportunity!
