Trip to China

Here is an excerpt from a recent field trip to China:

We left early in the morning to see a site up in the mountains where a church was needed.  The pastor and district leader met us and took us to a church that had 1,000 members meeting in a space that allowed for 500.  The rundown building was unsafe and the overflow of people were sitting outside in hopes of hearing part of the service. The congregation was clearly passionate about worshipping the Lord regardless of the circumstances.

The church was founded by a lady who had begun to wonder whether there was a God.  One day while she was visiting her sister in the city, she was approached by ladies from a local church witnessing to people.  When she heard about the Lord’s gift of salvation, she immediately accepted Christ.  She said she wished to go home and tell anyone who would listen about the love and forgiveness of Christ.

Many came to Christ, so she helped start a church.  Later, following in her footsteps, her son became pastor of this congregation, which is still thriving and planting daughter congregations today!
